Aledade and Aetna Announce Agreement to Expand Value-Based Care in Delaware and West Virginia
Physician-led ACOs to bring high-quality, coordinated care to Aetna members
Bethesda, Md. and Hartford, Conn. – April 23, 2019 – Aledade and Aetna, a CVS Health business, today announced a new agreement to expand value-based care in Delaware and West Virginia. In the arrangement, participating physicians in Aledade’s Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) will deliver high-quality, coordinated care to patients covered by Aetna’s commercial and Medicare Advantage plans.
“Our partner physicians in Delaware and West Virginia have reduced health care costs by providing better care to thousands of patients in each state. That’s the power of combining primary care physicians with value-based arrangements to keep people healthy,” said Dr. Farzad Mostashari, chief executive officer and co-founder of Aledade. “We are excited to partner with Aetna to bring this model of care to more patients, and we look forward to growing this multi-state partnership.”
For physicians participating in Aledade ACOs, this agreement presents the opportunity to share in a portion of health care cost savings generated from improved quality of care and health outcomes. And for Aetna members, this means benefiting from Aledade’s focus on access to primary care, preventive services, care coordination, and population health management.
“We are delighted to introduce this new partnership to both our commercial and Medicare members, and encourage them to seek their health care through this physician-led care model,” said Martha Carlson, Chief Network and Operations Officer for Delaware and West Virginia. “Through accountable care relationships, we’re working closer than ever with physicians and hospitals to make health care more affordable to both our members and providers, while also improving quality and efficiency.”
Across the country, Aledade ACOs have reduced preventable hospital stays, emergency room visits, and unnecessary medical services, driving more than $55 million in health care cost reductions.
