Bethesda, Md. — March 19 – Today, Aledade, Inc. announced a series of promotions to its leadership team: co-founder, Edwin Miller has moved into the role of Chief Product Officer; the company named athenahealth veteran Brady Richards as its new Chief Technology Officer; and Emily Maxson, M.D. was named the company’s first Chief Medical Officer.

“Aledade’s success would not be possible without the insight and expertise of those in our executive team, who are some of the best minds in primary care, technology, and data analytics,” said Dr. Farzad Mostashari, co-founder and CEO of Aledade. “Under Edwin, Brady, and Dr. Maxson’s leadership, we will continue to bring our unique, value-based care model to independent physicians and their patients across the country.”

Miller, a co-founder of Aledade, becomes Chief Product Officer following his previous role as Chief Technology Officer. His new role represents a strategic reorganization to focus the product team on data-driven innovation, faster development, and tech-enablement of Aledade’s population health initiatives via the Aledade App platform, designed to help independent practices thrive in the new value-based healthcare system. In this role, Miller is responsible for ensuring product strategy aligns with Aledade’s growth, value-based care cost savings, and practice engagement goals.

As the company’s new Chief Technology Officer, Richards will lead the continued development of its technology platform and the cloud-based application used by all participants in Aledade Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). He takes this role at a critical time as Aledade’s technology rapidly innovates and scales to meet the needs of its growing network of more than 4,000 providers managing over 500,000 patients through Aledade ACOs. Prior to joining Aledade, Richards was Vice President of Software Engineering at the innovative Medicare Advantage plan, Devoted Health, and spent more than a decade leading software development for athenahealth.

Dr. Maxson’s promotion to Chief Medical Officer is the result of her success in helping Aledade’s network of independent providers significantly improve their quality of care and patient health outcomes across a variety of measures. She is responsible for overseeing and impacting Aledade’s clinical strategy and acting as the ‘voice of the physician’ among the company’s executive team. In her new role, she will lead a diverse team of medical directors and collaborate across teams to strengthen practice and physician engagement.

These moves come on the heels of the company’s two announcements expanding its work with leading commercial health plans. Most recently, Aledade announced an agreement with Humana to bring the benefits of physician-led, value-based care to the plan’s Medicare Advantage members in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. At the end of last year, Aledade also announced a unique agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina to expand value-based primary care throughout the state.
