Aledade and Aetna Announce Value-Based Care Agreement for Medicare Advantage Members in Utah

November 25, 2020

Bethesda, Md. and Hartford, Conn. – April 23, 2019 – Aledade and Aetna, a CVS Health business, today announced a new agreement to expand value-based care in Utah. In the arrangement, participating physicians in Aledade’s Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) will deliver high-quality, coordinated care to patients covered by Aetna’s Medicare Advantage (MA) plans.

“The independent primary care physicians we partner with focus on keeping their patients healthy and getting them the right care when they need it. By partnering with Aetna, we now can bring this model of care to their senior members throughout Utah,” said Dr. Farzad Mostashari, CEO and co-founder of Aledade.

For physicians participating in Aledade ACOs, this agreement presents an opportunity to share in a portion of healthcare cost savings generated from improved quality of care and health outcomes. And for Aetna members, this means benefiting from Aledade’s focus on access to primary care, preventive services, care coordination, and population health management.

“We are delighted to introduce this new partnership to our Medicare members and encourage them to seek their healthcare through this physician-led care model,” said Sarah E. Young, Provider Engagement Manager, Utah, West Territory for Aetna. “Through accountable care relationships, we’re working closer than ever with physicians and hospitals to make healthcare more affordable to both our members and providers, while also improving quality and efficiency.”

Across the country, Aledade ACOs have reduced preventable hospital stays, emergency room visits, and unnecessary medical services, driving more than $55 million in healthcare cost reductions. Aledade supports physicians with a comprehensive range of capabilities that include: cutting-edge data analytics, user-friendly care management and outreach tools, unparalleled regulatory expertise, strong payer relationships, and local, hands-on support.
