Seasoned financial leader brings wide range of experiences to new role
Bethesda, MD – Aledade, the nation’s largest network of independent primary care, today announced that Jessica Somers has joined the company as chief financial officer (CFO). John Doyle, who has served as Aledade’s CFO since 2021, will now head operations at the company.
Somers joins Aledade from Evolent, a publicly-traded company that specializes in improving health outcomes. At Evolent, Somers led the development and execution of strategic growth investments, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic partnerships. In addition to her corporate development role, Somers also served as CFO of New Century Health, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Evolent focused on specialty care management under value-based arrangements.
“Jessica Somers is an accomplished and deeply experienced CFO with an impressive track record of driving strong financial results, incorporating financial rigor and discipline, and enhancing company value,” said Farzad Mostashari, M.D., co-founder and CEO of Aledade. “Her broad set of skills and experiences will be invaluable in helping Aledade accelerate top- and bottom-line growth and continue to create value for our providers, employees and other stakeholders. She is the ideal leader to replace John in the CFO role as he transitions to focus on business operations.”
Prior to joining Evolent, Somers spent nearly a decade in investment banking and private equity, most recently at Moelis & Company. Somers holds bachelor’s degrees in commerce and Asian studies from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
“I am thrilled to join Aledade, a proven industry leader with both a history of meaningful impact and the foundation to drive continued achievement,” Somers said. “Aledade is renowned for its success in helping doctors thrive in value-based care, and I look forward to playing a meaningful role in its future, ensuring it remains well positioned to grow in service to its mission.”
Somers’ hire comes on the heels of significant growth for Aledade, which recently partnered with Azara Healthcare to empower the nation’s community health centers to thrive under value-based care arrangements. Aledade also acquired Michigan-based Medical Advantage, which helps independent practices in Michigan maximize clinical and financial outcomes through a broad set of practice improvement services and hands-on support.
Aledade also recently has been honored with numerous top employer awards from the likes of The Washington Post, USA Today, Forbes and Modern Healthcare.
