Building a better health care system: Our vision for lasting change
The Aledade Policy Institute advances policies at the federal and state level across four key areas:
Strong value-based care models that provide a viable, long-term business case for the health care system, particularly primary care practices and community health centers, to transition from a fee-for-service health system that rewards the volume of services to one that focuses on patient outcomes at a lower cost for all Americans.
Payment and regulatory systems that ensure appropriate funding of comprehensive primary care, including community health centers, and reduce administrative workloads on primary care organizations as they successfully transition to value-based care.
Foster a competitive health care system encourages competition on the basis of cost and quality, rather than market strength.
Health care interoperability and the free flow of data to support higher quality, better coordinated and more affordable health care. Resist market forces and public policies that allow new technologies to drive higher costs instead of improving patient outcomes.
The work of the Aledade Policy Institute team is informed by the Aledade Policy Council — a group of nationally-respected, bipartisan health policy leaders representing primary care, community health centers, health plans and other stakeholders. The council meets periodically to discuss the changing health care landscape and advocacy that could advance value-based primary care as a result.
