As a company primarily focused on improving patient outcomes, Aledade recognizes climate change to be an immediate threat to human health. Not only do our partner physicians see the effects of climate change and environmental pollution firsthand in their practices every day, current estimates show that climate change is projected to cause an additional 1.5 million annual deaths by 2100 if past emissions trends continue.
At Aledade, we believe that as health care professionals we have a special obligation to push for decarbonization on behalf of patients everywhere and that it is therefore incumbent upon us to reduce our own carbon footprint while using our influence to help turn the tide in the fight against climate change.

Creating a More Sustainable Health Care System
Central to our environmental efforts is succeeding in Aledade’s core mission: creating a more efficient and sustainable health care delivery system. By helping physicians deliver more preventive care, we have substantially reduced the need for avoidable – and carbon-intensive – services, such as ER visits and hospitalizations.

Our Commitment to Carbon NeutralityAs an organization, we are also committed to maintaining our status as a carbon neutral company by calculating emissions across our entire value chain (scopes 1, 2, and 3); factoring climate impact into our annual budgeting process and corporate policies (e.g., reducing non-essential travel); investing in renewable energy credits to offset energy utilization at both Aledade’s corporate and home offices; and purchasing high-quality carbon offsets.

What's Next
We are committed to expanding our climate change program in the coming years. Under the leadership of our soon-to-be-hired Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) director, we will continue to seek out innovative ways to reduce Aledade’s carbon footprint, such as by prioritizing vendors with robust climate plans; sharing best practices with our providers and patients about how they can reduce their own emissions and improve their climate resilience; and by continuing to dedicate a portion of our annual revenues to supporting companies developing cutting-edge carbon removal technologies.
At Aledade, one of our core values is accountability, and as such, we are also committed to publishing updates on our progress in an annual ESG report and to sharing insights, reflections, and lessons learned from our climate work on our website. We hope that as Aledade continues to learn and grow these resources will inspire others in the health care sector to join us in our search for a new, better way to do business that’s good for doctors, good for patients, and good for society.
